Take note of the title and you are now educated on the topic of this post (what a riveting discussion we have ahead of us!). So I feel as though I should introduce myself to the very scarce and likely non-existent virtual audience of this blog by first mentioning that no, I am not the one and only Caitlin Snell, in fact after multiple Facebook stalks I am actually one of many. So here we are amidst the first paragraph of a likely grinding introduction to an unoriginally named girl, who has made this blog as a requirement of her university in pursuit of her degree. So instead of talking about my current antics I shall start at the beginning to when I was born in Hawkes Bay at Hastings Hospital. The reputation of Hawkes Bay in Wellington as a cluster of youth with raging appetites for alcohol and a keen ability to cut shapes in an impressive amount of different situations proves to hold up. Although I claim I am a Hawkes Bay girl, my dad actually changed jobs at the beginning of 2016 meaning my family relocated to Lake Tarawera, leaving me to board my last year at Woodford House. This change allowed me to get to know a new area and discover all the benefits of living beside a lake (including the excessively ridiculous influx of bugs that also decided to reside around the lakes edge).
My interests are constantly changing as I grow and find new things that inspire me. I used to be an eager participator in sports, mainly hockey and rowing but I began to lack finding the enjoyment sport should give you as the intensity increased along with my school workload and therefore decided to fully retire from all aspects of competitive exercise for my final year of high school. I can assure you though that inconsistent yoga classes and a season on the year 13 social soccer team really helped me to rediscover enjoyment in exercise once more. I now take on the treacherous hike from 222 Willis Street most mornings to navigate my way to Massey in rather forceful winds. I have also found myself in a few situations where I have had to hitch my groceries and walk up a ridiculous number of hills in order to transport them to the safety of my fridge. All in all this rapidly increased amount of walking (as a result of leaving my car back home) has made me feel #fitspo and almost inspired me to take up something as taxing as running once more (I will keep you updated on the progress of my fitness endeavours as the year continues).
I could probably talk about myself for ever considering I have 18 and a bit years of wildly unfortunate yet sometimes entertaining occurrences that make up my life so far. But instead of dwelling on matters of my past I shall inform you on what I am up to in the present. I have currently finished my second week at Massey University Wellington, where I have set out to get a Bachelor of Design with Honours over the next four years. In all honesty I thought university would be a life changing experience full of sororities and frat parties just like the films, but so far I am coming to release that my original perceptions have lead me astray. But never the less I have ditched the school uniform, embraced my culinary abilities and learnt how to budget. I have also acquired a new found talent of looking classy as hell when taking the trash out on the way to town. All in all though I am actually enjoying the work we are doing (shock horror) as part of my course so far, which surprising as it sounds is making the huge influx of homework each day all the more easier as I actually have motivation to complete it. I think this post is beginning to turn into a full fledged essay so I had better bring my introduction to an abrupt conclusion, so in summary I Caitlin Snell, have made this blog to aid in expressing my views, opinions and ideas throughout my studies. I plan to continue an idea of who I am as a person, by letting it flow through my posts as a way to communicate and continue this introduction of me. So with that I suppose my introduction is over, wish me luck for surviving my degree over the next four years!
